The Raw and The Cooked- Mickey Baker

On planet Jimmy Wiggins, I have always admired both the raw end of music and the sophisticated. Sometimes both at once. In the specific area of the guitar my main influences have been gut bucket stuff with an edge such as Johnny"Guitar" Watson and the more sophisticated stylings of the likes of Kenny Burrell, and anything in between.

One thing that has always puzzled me is the lack of accolades or interest in Mickey Baker. To me he embodies both ends of the spectrum simultaneously .. Check out this clip of him with Coleman Hawkins
